New marina at RMYS St Kilda welcomes multihulls
Rod Austin, General Manager of Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS) at St Kilda, has asked me to let MYCV members and other multihullers know that their new marina has specialty MULTIHULL BERTHS available that are sized to accommodate multis without attracting the cost of two single berths. There are already half a dozen cats in them and RMYS is keen to welcome more multihulls. They offer short terms rentals, plus longer rental options are available for anything from 6 to 36 months or even 20 year leases.
I've got my cat Peccadillo there - the marina is great and so much cheaper than the commercial marina I was in!
They are currently offering a winter special - take a pen for 3 months and receive the fourth month free. You get a security fob for unlimited access to the marina and the clubhouse facilities and a parking permit for unlimited parking, and you don't need to be a RMYS member.
If you’d like to know more, contact Rod Austin at the Squadron on 03 9534 0227, email him at manager@rmys.com.au, or go to the website www.rmys.com.au.

Gavin Le Sueur to talk at May MYCV meeting!
We are pleased to announce that Gavin Le Sueur, the renowned multihull sailor and author of Multihull Seamanship, will be talking at our next meeting, to be held at 2.00 pm on Sunday 25th May at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron in St Kilda.
Gavin is known throughout Australia and internationally for his knowledge and experience in multihull seamanship and safety for both cruising and racing. To maximise the value to our members and other multihull sailors of Gavin's presence in Melbourne, we are running the meeting as a seminar format, with plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion. The program will run from 2-5 pm, with afternoon tea provided. There will also be one or two other short presentations by other speakers (to be advised) on sea safety and rescue.
The seminar is open to everyone, so please make an effort to invite any and all interested non-members that you know, especially cruising multihullers and those thinking of moving to a multi. The session is free.
Further details will be put up on this site and on the MYCV Facebook page (join us on Facebook if you haven't already!) closer to the time. And feel free to contact Charles Meredith chasm200@bigpond.com with any queries.
