Early bird (that is ... DISCOUNT!) registration for Festival of Sails closes on 30th November
Hi all. Early bird registration for the Festival of Sails finishes on 30th November - this Saturday. So enter before then and save $50! Your Committee has put a lot of effort into getting a great seven race program for multis this year, so we are looking for plenty of multis to support the event in January. Race entry has been kept the same as last year and this is for seven races - there were only four races last year, so the value is pretty fair.
Looking forward to seeing as many of our members there as possible, plus any other multis we can attract (please encourage any multi owners you know who are not members to come along too).
Cheers, Charles Meredith (Commodore)

Round Phillip Island Race 7th December - from Tom Boschma
On Saturday 7th December 2013 the Newhaven Yacht Squadron is running the annual round Phillip Island race. While the race has been for club members in keel boats (and some larger TS boats) last year's interest by some multihull skippers has propted the NYS to open up this event to any westernport club members and to mulithulls.
The requirements are- Declaration of Cat 4, GPS position reports over VHF every 2 hours, e-perb, min 2 crew.
The race starts in the morning just after low tide (to get under bridge) in Cleeland Bight, and finishes at the starboard mark in the Newhaven channel. If the weather is strong, skippers can elect to do instead the "half Island" race which stays inside Westernport , down to McHaffies reef and back. Multis from Hastings can get an overnight berth in the marina (must apply first- and fold floats in)
The NOR, Sailing instructions and application form are all on the NYS web site. Entry is $18. We need three multis to form a division. One is already in. NYS has not organised any prizes as it does not know if there will be any interest. This race is the most prestigious event of the season.
Could interested skippers let me know so I can keep NYS worded up? Thanks Tom Boschma Member NYS and MYCV tomboschma@yahoo.com.au
