Well, well and their goes another SOMR and what a weekend it was. From the decks of Bare Essentials, we are still learning the boat. However the last race made it all worth it, One of my favourite races down to the Phillip Island bridge in between 150 fishos ???? Sounds like we were the only ones that slowed down to 5 knots when we passed within 50m of the fishing boats and still managed to get 1st on PHC and 2nd on OMR. Hasting Police are still investigating which boats were speeding passed and Ian is still ducking and weaving the questions from a angry Sargent. But let's go back to the start.
Race 1: Off to a good start and the Greyhound Trophy is looking good, already have the spot polished in the pool room. Only a short race and a minor navigation error has stuffed us up. Like it's over there!!!! 90 deg. turn required. "NOT HAPPY JAN" Outcome not good, Bloody Shaun first round the second mark and off to the finish. Come on wind BLOW, get us foiling......Second over the line, last on OMR and third on PHC. Not the result we were hoping for.
Race 2. If I say so myself, what a perfect start? BANG right off the line, all the other boats are bunched up at the start boat and we have clear pressure down the line. Racing away to the first mark and everything looking great. Reaching up and down at 20+ kts. This race was ours, perfect weather for "The Bare". Every disappointed to go over the finish line and not to hear the hooter. WHY??? Buggered if I know, please tell me, were we over the line????????????? I don't think so..
Stay tuned for race 3 & 4.
